It seems that if you’ve been in a relationship and been dumped, you will get a lot of sympathy from others, but if you’re in love with someone who doesn’t love you people just don’t seem to be as understanding about what you’re going through.
Cheer up though, there is good news, here is a proven method to survive unrequited love.
Your friends and family probably mean well when they tell you it’s time to move on and you shouldn’t be hanging on so tight to something that will never be. Unfortunately those things don’t help at all.
No one will understand that the pain you are feeling is real and deep and that it will take as long as it takes for you to move on.
Having said that though, you should at least start to see some signs of progress after several months, you may not be over it but you should be moving forward at least a little bit.
If you aren’t moving forward at all you may need to seek out some help from a professional. A therapist can teach you the skills you need to learn how to deal with your feelings so that eventually you can move on and love again.
Getting over unrequited love will require going through the same stages as getting over any other relationship.
You have to grieve for the love you will never have and you will need to go through the grieving stages at your own pace and no one or nothing can make that go faster. Just like with any other type of breakup you will feel denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and last but not least, acceptance.
If the object of your desire is someone you see on a regular basis this process may take longer.
If at all possible, separate yourself from the person you love. Try not to see them anymore since that will just make you think about them more often which will make it harder to move on.
Of course if your feelings are for someone you can’t really avoid such as a co-worker, that will make the process somewhat more difficult.
Feelings of love are not all in your head, but you can train yourself to not think about them all the time. It’s not easy to do, but you can do it with practice.
Whenever you find your mind wandering to think about that person you have to consciously force yourself to think of something else. With practice this will become second nature and eventually you won’t be thinking of them at all.
Anytime you love someone who doesn’t love you it’s difficult and painful.
Whether it was a good relationship gone bad or just a case where you’ve fallen for someone who just doesn’t care about you ‘that way’ it can be extraordinarily painful.
Getting over unrequited love will take time just like any other type of breakup, just use this proven method to survive unrequited love and someday you’ll find someone who is as crazy in love with you as you are with them.
