Samsung announced on Wednesday (19) the official launch of the virtual assistant Bixby in Brazil, with voice commands in Portuguese. After a phase of testing for the entire base of the Galaxy S10, the feature now also reaches the Note line (Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy Note10 +).
Lite model users (Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note10 Lite) will be left out. Samsung ensures that other branded devices like the Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z20 and Galaxy Flip will receive it in the near future.
Sales start on March 11 and the device arrives with a suggested price of R $ 8,999
Bixby arrives to dispute space with Google Assistant, Siri (Apple) and Alexa (Amazon). Like rivals, it is possible to use only the voice command to check e-mails, change music, set alarm times, switch camera modes, take photos and activate navigation routes, among other features.
Equipped with interactive technology for continuous learning, Bixby also learns about usage patterns and preferences. In this way, it automatically adjusts the smartphone's settings, controls applications and optimizes the battery.
Despite the localization in Portuguese, the virtual assistant responds with the command “Hi, Bixby”. The South Korean explained that the adaptation of the various resources to Brazil took into account the various characteristics of the local public.
“Bixby is constantly developing based on user experience and feedback, because in such a large country, one of the main points is precisely to take regionalisms, accents and slang into account. Thus, we ensure the ability to interact and offer a very effective experience ”. – Bruno Costa, senior manager of content and services for the mobile devices area at Samsung Brazil.
