After completing a year without losing in English beating Sheffield United 2-0 last Thursday (2), the Liverpool arrives for Sunday's classic against Everton in Anfield for the third round of the FA Cup, with many problems.
The coach Jürgen Klopp will not count on defenders Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne, midfielders Naby Keïta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri and Fabinho and striker Rhian Brewster, all injured.
The list of injured players has mostly reservations, yet it has become a constant reason for complaints from their coach. Klopp has been questioning the local calendar, with games on festive dates, such as the Boxing Day, on the last 26th, when all teams play for English.
In an interview before Sunday's clash, the German has again criticized what he sees as too many games. "We have to make sure that the best teams win (championships) and not the lucky ones with injuries," he said.
Liverpool leads the league 13 points clear and one game less. Still, the embezzlement contributes to Klopp not being able to spare the main stars of his team, such as strikers Sadium Mané and Mohamed Salah, increasing the risk of losing these players too at some point.
For the World Cup, Liverpool will face their local rival, who is in charge of seasoned Carlo Ancelotti, who has won the 2010 English Cup with Chelsea. Everton is in 11th place in English.
"There are several biographies about him. You can read them, but at this point it will take a long time to talk about all the qualities of Carlo Ancelotti. He is one of the smartest people I have ever met," Klopp said.
