Even superheroes get injured sometimes. Jeremy Renner, who plays the crack-shot archer Hawkeye in the Avengers series, sustained fractures in both of his arms during a stunt filmed for the action-comedy Tag. He revealed his injuries at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the Czech Republic, where he introduced a screening of his new movie Wind River, directed by Taylor Sheridan.

The actor fractured his right elbow and left wrist in an accident on set a few weeks ago. “It won’t stop things that I need to do,” Renner told the festival, via The Hollywood Reporter. “I heal fast and am doing everything I can to heal faster.”

He didn’t immediately reveal where he’d gotten hurt, causing many to speculate that he’d done so on the set of Avengers: Infinity War, which is currently in production. But Deadline learned that he’d injured himself while filming Tag, Jeff Tomsic’s comedy about a group of friends who organize a world-wide game of tag, Amazing Race-style.

“I shall heal up before Avengers starts up again,” Renner assured the audience. “This is my face in pain,” he said, grinning.

Renner hadn’t yet started filming his role in Infinity War, which is shooting in Pinewood in Atlanta. His injuries won’t affect his Avengers schedule, but his shoot days for Tag have been moved around to accommodate for his convalescence.

Renner will receive the Karlovy Vary film festival’s presidential award on Saturday night at the closing ceremony.
