‘Doctor Sleep’: Stephen King rebuts criticism of low box office

Despite positive reviews, "Doctor Sleep" was not surprising during his debut weekend and grossed just $ 19.7 million worldwide, well below the $ 25 million expected for domestic box office alone.

So far, the worldwide box office is around $ 34 million, but it is still low considering the $ 50 million budget.

Even so, writer Matt Serafini used social media to rebut comments about the feature's collection and encouraged the audience to watch, saying:

“If you enjoyed the movie, don't spend the weekend talking about the box office. Talk about the movie, what you saw, what inspired you, and take others to watch with you. Do something meaningful that way. Don't let others' hard work be reduced to numbers. ”

Stephen King, author of the original novel, shared the message and said:

"I agree. It is an excellent movie. Take a friend with you and enjoy the vibe. ”

The "sequel" to "The Shining" is directed by Mike Flanagan – who has under his belt "The Mirror", "The Curse of Hill Residence", "Ouija: Origin of Evil" and "Before I Go".

As a child, Danny Torrance managed to survive an attempted murder by his father, a writer disturbed by evil spirits, to become an equally traumatized and alcoholic adult. With no fixed residence, he settles in a small town, where he gets a job at the local hospice and creates a telepathic bond with a girl, patient of the institution.

The cast includes Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Jocelin Donahue, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind and Jacob Tremblay.

The feature is already on display in national theaters!
